Humorous Hamsas
Batsheva Avital's humorous Hamsas (Jewish Lucky Hand talismans) are fully hand crafted, molded out of DAST clay, painted in vivid colors and decorated with glossy beads.

Batsheva's Chamsa amulets have two color options (see column at right) and four inscription options:
- Hebrew Home Blessing
- English Home Blessing
- A humorous "Tfu, Tfu, Tfu" inscription in Hebrew, as when people spit three times when they want to drive away the evil eye...
- The words "Chamsa, chamsa, chamsa" inscripted in Hebrew
Any combination between inscription and color option is available.
What Batsheva says about her work
My name is Batsheva Avital and I am a graduate of the School of Art at Beit Berl College, Israel. Each Tuesday and Friday, on the Nachalat Binyamin Pedestrian Mall in Tel Aviv, I display and sell my original handicrafts: mobiles, signs and especially Hamsas...
A Hamsa is a charm in the shape of an ornamental palm of the hand which safeguards its owner against bad luck. One's palm is in fact a symbolic representation of one's life, and there's a whole theory about its shape and the significance of its lines and how they describe a person's character. |
